MPE Group entered in the sector of Agribusiness at the
end of 1991, upon the purchase of Valença da Bahia Maricultura S/A,
a farm under implantation in Valença - BA and, 18 months later, in
the middle of 1993, upon the purchase of Agromon S/A - Agricultura e Pecuária,
in Diamantino - MT.
In that opportunity, our aim was diversifying
its activities, attempting to add something different to its core business
and engineering.
After a little more than a decade, the Group
consolidated itself as one of the greatest and most diversified in this
sector of the country.
From its first shrimp farm, Valença da
Bahia, with 160 hectares under construction in 1991, today we are almost
10% of the whole area implanted in Brazil, with 1150 hectares in 4 farms.
Also in Bahia, in Paulo Afonso, we produce shrimp and fish feed, satisfying
our needs and supplying them to third parties.
When we purchased Agromon S/A, Fazenda Itaipu
was already a major area with 12 000 hectares, soy and cattle-raising. Today
there are 100 000 hectares in 3 farms, where we plant soy bean, cotton,
corn, and we develop beef-cattle raising that is totally integrated with
agriculture.
In Rio de Janeiro, we produce fruits, sugar cane, elite-cattle raising,
besides Sumol juice, in partnership with Sumol from Portugal.
All these projects were constructed with a high
technological conception, searching for maximal productivity, total integration
and respect for the environment, aiming at man's development in implantation
regions.
We are sure that the option for Agribusiness
was quite important for helping with the current position of MPE Group in
the national scenery. Currently, as we will see in details, we act in the
States of Mato Grosso, Rio de Janeiro and Bahia, in activities in which
we are or will be leaders, with strategic partnerships both technologically
and commercially.
Brazil offers enormous opportunities in
this economical sector for those who are ready to work, produce with quality
and productivity. We understand that the government does not have
a populist role; but outlines policies that may facilitate the creation
of a basic infra-structure, as well as support for research. We are proud
of our projects. Believing in the present, we plant the future Brazil. |
